First of all you will want to prepare a resume of all the various tasks you did while self-employed. After you have done that, I would look towards a temp-agency to help point you in the right direction based on your background. Do not sell yourself short, you seem to have done quite a bit; the high school education has not hurt you much it seems.

Take a look at USAJOBS; that is the website for the Federal Government jobs. The site below will work; it is the advanced search that can sort on career fields, locations, pay grades/salary. If you have never worked for the Federal Government before or are not a military veteran, you are not considered “status”, so that question would be answered ‘no”.

If you are not as concerned about having a huge salary, this may be a good place to look.
